Old Orchard Beach History

Lisa’s Pizza in Old Orchard Beach, Maine sits partway down the hill on the right side of Old Orchard Street. This town got its name from the Thomas Rogers’ family that settled in 1657 but then left an abandoned apple orchard to move to Kittery, Maine. They left after an Indian attack destroyed the homestead. The namesake orchard survived for about 150 years as a beacon of land to sailors in the Atlantic Ocean.

Old Orchard Beach is a popular summer beach destination with the pier and a 7 mile stretch of beach. The downtown is lined with souvenir shops, restaurants, and an amusement park.

Summer fun in Maine!
